YOU ARE FREE INDEED! Joanne Baumeister Turner Are you living in your past? Do you see the failures of your life instead of the successes? If the enemy is keeping you tied up in, and dwelling on your past; replaying your failures, bound up within your feelings he is doing it because he knows as long as you are focused on those things, he will succeed in keeping you focused on the things of the world, and you cannot be free to soar with the Spirit. Jesus liberated you from sin and death. The Word says Jesus paid the price for our sins, ONCE AND FOR ALL! It also says those that are freed by the Son are free indeed! That means the devil may blow hot air your way, and throw your past in your face, but you dont have to accept what he catapults at you. You are free! Satan can tell you are bound by your past, and by your feelings, but you don’t have to accept his lies. Romans 8:38 says: 38 For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,39 Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. So it is only through our allowing – giving the enemy permission - that give him the right to interfere where Jesus has freed us. Satan is a fallen angelic being - a principality (or ruler) of the air. But Romans 8:38 says there isn’t anything that can separate us - not anything or anyone. I want to specifically point out that Paul includes creatures like him by TITLE! And through being a child of the one True God; by having been Crucified with Christ, you have the power through His shed blood and the power of Jesus name to fight the enemy by binding the enemy in Jesus name and loosing you into the freedom that Romans 8:38 promises you. Galatians 2:20 reminds us that we are no longer bound by our old nature, but now Christ lives in us and we are to rely completely on Jesus our Savior for all things including when we are bombarded by the enemys lies. 20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Remember, He sent a legion of demons into a herd of pigs, who then pitched themselves off a cliff into the sea. At the sight of Jesus – when the demons had barely had a look at who had entered their territory, they began groveling on the ground, begging Jesus not to send them into the into the Abyss before the appointed time. All Jesus did was show up, and those creatures knew that they were being visited by the Son of the Most High God. According to the scripture above, Messiah lives in you if you are born again. The power you have to send the devil packing is huge beyond your understanding. However, as long as you remain unaware of the instructions God left behind on how to clothe yourself for protection, and how to resist the devil, you will be defeated when there is no reason to be. Your enemy is ruthless and would delight in defeating you. But it is he who has been defeated through Jesus shed blood and cannot torment our spirits; however, he still has access to that part of us that lives in this fallen world – our soul and flesh. Yet God has given provision for us to walk in victory daily. He gives us complete protection through your salvation, your faith, a heart readied to spread the gospel; through Truth and Righteousness, and most of all . 10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Ephesians 6:10 You have all the power to fight off the enemy at your disposal that exists in the universe and beyond; the only power to do so. There is only one catch: you must use it. What soldier leaves his house to fight a battle without putting on protection; picking up his sword and shield and following the commands set forth by his leader? So, how can you fight our unseen enemy without preparation. Oh Beloved, you are fully equipped with all you need, held up by the unshakable love of God! Enlist the prayers of your Sisters and Brothers in Messiah. Meditate - soak in His Presence and rest there as He instructs your spirit. Through Paul, He tells us where to keep our minds focused; For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].” Philippians 4:7-9 Think on these things - and only upon the things that fit into these categories. Dont let your mind rest upon, entertain or accept Satans lies, filling your mind with negativity. That isnt how Jesus thought, and it is Him we are to emulate. You are free -a new creature in Christ. Take time to listen to His voice leading you; and be free as defined by our Savior. Free from the law of sin and death.. Romans 8:2 Free from the body of this death. Romans 7:24 Free from the guilt of indwelling sin. Romans 8:1 1Cor 5:11, 1Tim 5:22 Free from all anxiety and distressing care 1Cor 7:32 Free from the bondage of ritualism and ordinances Gal 4:12 Free from the love of money 1 Tim 3:3 Heb 13:5 Free from the sin of Adam Heb 9:15 Free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity James 13:15 Free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts. James 3:16-17 2 Pet 3:14 Free from evil and guile (treachery, deceit). 1Pet 3:10 So if the Son makes you free, you will be FREE INDEED. John 8:34
