YOU ARE INVITED TO A PARTY! BRING A FRIEND TO BATAVIA! --- MEET A FRIEND IN BATAVIA! JUST HAVE FUN! We are planning a party, and this is your special invitation! The annual convention, “Trakehnerfest 2013” is new, redesigned, and we need you to make it happen! Our ATA members have suggested that we return to a centralized venue, add events to attract larger audiences and do more to feature our beautiful Trakehner horses. You have also suggested that we hold the event when and where it is warmer! Many members told us they wanted to include other vacation activities with their time at the convention. The Cincinnati area and the Ohio Valley in early October will be especially beautiful and you could plan many lovely holiday getaways before and after the convention. The Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) is only 60 miles from our hotel. There is a major driving competition occurring at the KHP during our convention, and we expect many ATA members will make the short drive on Sunday to view the finals. If we have enough interest, we may be able to arrange a bus trip to KHP on Sunday! Our solution is to move the convention to the beginning of October. The 2013 annual Convention will be October 3-6 and will return to the magnificent Majestic Farm in Batavia, Ohio. The hotel contract has been negotiated at the Holiday Inn, and the rate is fantastic! Watch the ATA website for details. We are planning to expand the horse show. We want to offer incentives and prizes. We want to open the classes to other breeds of horses. We are adding new classes, and even some fun classes that will make you chuckle. So start getting your horses ready! On Friday evening we are working on a fun filled frolic at the horse barn capped off by the Jumping Calcutta. We are very excited to have a world renowned equine breed expert who will be a presenter at the convention. Erhard Schulte will present a comprehensive view of the historical evolution of our breed. We will ask him to discuss current breeding trends in Europe and changes that will occur in Trakehner breeding in the future to accommodate the needs of sport. There will also be some “hands on” opportunities at the convention, both in judging and evaluating young horses. The social format will follow the Thursday evening reception, the Friday night presentation at the barn, and the Saturday evening banquet. The stallion inspections and mare evaluations will, of course, play a major part of the weekend. We hope to add a “Feature of the Founders” presentation that will give you some historical background of the formation of the American Trakehner Association. The Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday morning at the hotel. We hope you will come away from the convention feeling invigorated, educated, and excited about the future of Trakehner horses! However, we need your help! We need you to embrace the motto, “Bring a friend to Batavia.” We need lots of attendees, lots of horses, lots of enthusiasm, and plenty fun!
