YOU ARE WEALTHY! That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. ---Romans 4:22-25 He was not wealthy in the least and would probably be considered lower middle class. When he got his monthly bank statement he chuckled at the mistake. It said he had 100 million dollars deposited into his account that month. He showed his wife the statement and they both had a great laugh and just figured the mistake would be straightened out on the next statement. The following month the statement read the same, but this time with quite an amount of interest that had been added. He decided to go down to the bank to get the mistake corrected. When he arrived and told the teller the problem, she called for the bank manager. The manager came and asked him to join him in his office. He did so with a little concern. The manager closed the door and asked him to take a seat as he did the same. Then he told him, “There has not been a mistake on your monthly bank statement. Someone wanted to anonymously deposit that large sum into your account. That is all I can tell you.” The man was astounded and left to share the news with his wife. Dear follower of Jesus Christ, something far more exciting has occurred in your life. The righteousness of God was deposited into your earthly account, transferring it to a heavenly account. According to the passage above in context, God’s righteousness is credited to our account by faith (Romans 4:3-12, 22-25; II Corinthians 5:21). When we believed on God who raised our Lord Jesus Christ, understanding that he died for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (justice had been served on our behalf), then God deposited His righteous into our account. When we truly understand what has taken place, we would not want to trade that transaction for a measly 100 million, 100 billion, 100 trillion or all the wealth of the world. All the wealth of this world does not compare to the eternal crediting of righteousness to our account! Rejoice you follower of Jesus Christ, you are wealthier than any person on this planet who has not trusted our Lord Jesus Christ. We should be joyfully content as we live for Him. May it be so! Dear Father, thank You so very much for Your eternal generosity toward me. May I be grateful and faithful to You in the authority of Jesus my Lord and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
