YOU CAN LET GO…… You can let go. Regardless of the worries that keep you awake at night, the emotions that tie you up in knots, or the problems that seem completely insurmountable and unbearable, you can release them all to YOU CAN LET GO…… You can let go. Regardless of the worries that keep you awake at night, the emotions that tie you up in knots, or the problems that seem completely insurmountable and unbearable, you can release them all to the Father—and you must. This may seem impossible for you, “but with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26). You were never meant to bear the weight of your problems on your own. The Lord wants to show You His might and power in the difficulties you face. I have seen this throughout my life. In fact, I can remember when I was confronted with the worst trial a pastor could ever endure. It was absolutely devastating. I wanted to know what to do so that I could solve my problem in my own strength. I tried everything I knew to do but nothing worked. Finally, I let go. I stopped struggling to change my circumstances, and I gave everything to the Father. I no longer attempted to figure things out; I just quietly and faithfully obeyed Him. Then came the day I received the phone call confirming the outcome I had fought so hard to prevent. Did God fix everything the way I wanted? No, He didn’t. But when I heard the news and put down the phone, I had an overwhelming sense of His awesome peace. I remember saying, “God, You’ve carried me through all the other storms of my life. I trust You’ll take me through this one.” And that’s the message for you today: “Cease striving and know that [He is] God” (Ps. 46:10). Have faith that He will carry you through the trials and difficulties of your life. Will He change your circumstances? At times He will, responding to you in such a powerful way that you will be astounded at how perfectly He answered your prayers—exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that you asked for or hoped (Eph. 3:20). But in those times when He does not change your situation, be assured that He will transform you. I did not understand what the Father was doing through the trial I mentioned above, but He did bless me with “the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension” (Phil. 4:7). What He did through that challenge has served to open new doors of ministry in ways I never imagined. The same is true for you. If the Lord doesn’t answer your prayers in the ways you expect, He may be transforming you in a manner that you will not want to trade for anything in the world. But how can you let go of your concerns in a way that honors the Father and edifies you? First, admit to God that you are struggling, and ask Him to help you. Letting go may not be easy for you, but the Father can show you how to be free from control. The Creator who formed the heavens and the earth is wise, powerful, and loving enough to help you through anything you face. You can trust Him to take you through this challenge triumphantly. Second, realize that letting go of your concern does not mean quitting in defeat. This is a mistake many people make. They believe that laying down their problems means giving up their hope. But releasing your burden to the Father indicates that you submit to His will because He knows what’s best. You decide to obey and glorify Him, regardless of the outcome, because you trust: “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God” (Rom. 8:28). With the Father, you always have a reason for hope because He is good and loving. “No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Ps. 84:11). Finally, understand that your success in this challenge is dependent upon your discipline, not just your desire. Be aware that this issue may resurface in your life repeatedly and come to your mind often—perhaps even hourly at first. This is not unusual. However, when it does, take it as an indication that you must open God’s Word and get on your knees in prayer. Recommit yourself to the Father’s will and obey whatever He shows you to do. As you do, He will surely “perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you” (1 Pet. 5:10). And that, my friend, is the path to certain victory. So are there uncertainties keeping you awake at night or problems that have you tied up in knots? Do you face challenges that seem completely insurmountable? Release them all to the Father. Let go of them and obey whatever He calls you to do. He has never let you down and never will. Trust Him to help you through this storm, leading you to triumph.
