YOUNG CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY The Young Citizen Police Academy is a 4 day summer program of instruction designed to give the young citizen a working knowledge of the Lake Jackson Police Department. The course, free of charge, consists of a series of classes including graduation. The Young Citizen Police Academy will be held July 7—July 10, 2014. The classes are from 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday thru Wednesday and form 9:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday. Students will arrive at the Lake Jackson Police Department each morning and will be provided a complimentary lunch. On Thursday there will be a graduation / luncheon. Parents are invited to attend the graduation. Class participants are students who have completed the seventh (7th) grade through seniors in high school. Classes consist of a maximum of 15 young men and women. The goal of the Academy is to provide the interested young citizen with enough information to dispel misconceptions they may have about Policing. This program is designed to increase rapport between the Lake Jackson Police Department and the youth in our community through an educative process Different topics will be covered each day. Students will have the opportunity to ride with a police officer during an actual tour of duty.
