YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE: I met Peter Wang my freshmen year of college. A foreign exchange student from Taiwan. He returned to Taiwan to attend their top university. Peter sent me an alarming message this morning, that he asked for me to share with others. Please take the time to read this closely and if you feel so compelled to share with others. edition.cnn/2014/03/19/world/asia/taiwan-student-protests/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 Im not one to post things like this however I understand the importance of spreading the news of a situation as critical as this one. Hi Josue this is Peter. It has been a long time since we last talked however there is something I would like to share you. Taiwan ruling party is trying to sign a trade pact with China which will potentially risk the sovereignty of Taiwan. The situation is much like that of the Ukraine and Hong kong in the future. This pact was not read and examined accordingly in the legislature, and was announced legitimate with no consensus of the legislatives. Ruling party claims that since this pact has been put on hold for examination over the past three months, it is to be passed. 3/18 night protestors, mostly college students gathered around the legislature to protest against this illegal act that has compromised the principles of democracy and will future threaten the liberty and equity on this land. Some college students stormed in to the legislature as some surrounded the building in a peaceful fashion. There are over thousands of students surrounding the compound, each taking shifts. I have stayed there from 11pm~9am for the past two days and I will be going there shortly. Tomorrow is the scheduled day for the pact to be handed over and announced officially. We intend to stay overnight to secure the premise until the president, which is also the leader of the ruling party to be willing to withdraw this pact and to communicate with us. The president insisted this morning that he intend to pass this agreement between Taiwan and China, and claim that we are students swayed by the opposition party. Armed police from all around Taiwan gathered at the legislature and are prepared to force the student in and around the legislatures to leave before tomorrow, which is the scheduled date for the agreement to be handed over. I was at the plaza this morning at the very front row facing armed polices, who gathered and fell back (which I think was due to the gathereing of the people). Tonight they will evacuate us. Please help us by spreading this CNN news to other people. We wish to be seen that Taiwans democracy and possible sovereignty is at stake, and that the students in Taiwan will stand to defend our land and liberty!
