YOUR FIRST REIKI SESSION - WHAT TO EXPECT. Often people are unsure what to expect when they come for their first Reiki Healing appointment, so this post is intended to give some guidance. The reiki room is a very relaxed, deeply peaceful place. Your session will begin with a very relaxed chat about your reasons for coming so I can ascertain how best I can help. After that, Ill invite you to lie on a comfortable plinth ( similar to a massage table ) and place a blanket over you so you will feel warm and safe throughout the session. Apart from removing their shoes ( if they wish ), clients remain fully clothed at all times. With the help of soothing music and incense, at this stage you can just relax, close your eyes if you wish, and enjoy the experience of having the universal life force energy of Reiki clear and work throughout your body and aura. Reiki is a hands-on healing method but at no stage is physical contact made with private parts of the body etc - clients constantly remark on how incredibly safe and relaxed they feel during and after a reiki session. Similarly clients who may be experiencing emotional burdens remark on the feeling of safety and comfort and on the completely non-judgemental, confidential way in which they are honoured and respected. What is Reiki? Reiki is described in many ways and often completely misunderstood. Firstly, Reiki is not attached to any religious beliefs or organisations - it is practised and enjoyed by people of all faiths and none. It is well-described as universal life-force energy. What does that mean? Think of what happens if you cut your finger - without any effort or direction from you a course of events automatically enfolds - the wound seals itself and gradually the cells repair themselves and knit together until complete healing has taken place and the wound is gone. The intelligent universal regenerative energy that does this and so much else is Reiki. Some describe it as the universe supporting life, others as the power of the Creator or Holy Spirit, others such as atheists sometimes describe it as simply an as-yet not-fully-understood benevolent energetic force. It really doesnt matter how you describe it - Reiki, like all bona fide Reiki Practitioners, doesnt categorise or judge people in any way. In a Reiki Treatment you will be honoured and respected just as you are. Reiki is about wide-ranging healing of mind, body and spirit - in my own case I first experienced Reiki when I was looking for a cure for a persistent illness - what I got was something far more comprehensive and precious - instead of getting just a cure for my illness, I got comprehensive healing and thats how my journey to becoming a Reiki Practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher began.
