YOUR HEALING MINUTE Emotional INDEPENDENCE. Today’s post is for all those that are slaves to the opinions of others. You know who you are. You cringe and are devastated by the judgments or criticisms of others. Even when you know you’ve done your best, it is the assessment of others that sets your own opinion of yourself. You are ever at the whim and fancy of others which often leads to pandering for their approval or worse like disregarding your own values and beliefs for the validation of another. It is slavery and servitude when your own opinion of yourself is so low that you allow others to define you. You will ever be the whipping boy (or girl) if you don’t stand up for yourself and DEMAND respect from others. Your self-esteem and self-respect require that of each of us. Others may not give us the respect we demand but then we may not be around to care once we’ve discovered our own self-worth. - Steve Ellis
