YOUR IELTS FRUSTRATION IS VERY COMMON. Hi Ben, I took the ielts test, the second time I did it, in May and got: Listening 8.5, Reading 7.0, Speaking 6.5, Writing 5.5, which is almost the same score I got the first time I took it. I am so frustrated that I am wondering if I will ever got a 7 in writing. Anyway, I havent made up my mind yet as to whether take it a third time or find some other way (for immigration). Hi Yi, Your frustration is very common. I know hundreds and hundreds of students are in the exact same position as you. Dont worry, we are all in this together! I would wait a while, say 3 months, and practice practice practice ENGLISH, NOT IELTS. Work on improving your general language skills, copy with a pen and paper, word for word, newspaper articles and books you like to read. Listen every single day to English, write down new words, try and mimic speakers. Do this for three months solid then try a few practice tests to see if you have improved. After doing the tests take notice to the areas where you loose points, then focus on these. Then after 4 months, with your confidence restored, try the exam again. Also, if you need a hand with the writing send me an essay and Ill have a look. All the best! Ben PS Resist the temptation to immediately go for another exam, its unlikely you have improved in 2 weeks.
