Troubles come not necessarily because we have steered a wrong course but because we live in a complex and contradictory world where the storms of life catch us unawares. Many things can bring passing comfort but the trouble still remains. As a member of the Household of faith, you can say, ‘I have no other refuge than this command of Jesus: ‘only believe’ (Mark 9:23). Faith is a heart that believes God in every circumstance. The only way to feel good about yourself is to begin to believe and accept what Jesus has done for you - He died for you, He reigns in power for you and still prays for you. If you truly believe, your heart will be at rest in the midst of the storm. What keeps us from despairing is not what we see but what we believe.
