YOUR VOTE HAS VALUE, MAKE IT COUNT AS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. EXPERIENCE MATTERS! I was on WOLB radio yesterday and asked the question had I ever had a case against my opponent? The answer, YES. In fact, it was likely their last case tried before they quit the States Attorneys Office and became an Insurance Defense attorney for State Farm since 2011. The Case Number 110099028, State v. Anthony Williams on Md Case Search. He was charged with attempted 1st and 2nd Degree Murder, Assault 1 & 2 and handgun violations. I asked for the matter to be resolved by way of a plea given the facts were bad and at best it was a second degree assault case. This was in exchange for 10 years to run with any outstanding sentence (knowing he had a violation in another jurisdiction). Was told no, top count only and they didnt need to seek authority from a supervisor. Me understanding this young man had some underlying issues, there was public safety concern. But because of a lack of experience, over confidence and arrogance, the final result was this: 2nd degree assault and a handgun violation and a 3 year sentence which was equivalent to time served based on how long he had sat before trial. He re-offended within 120 days of release. That doesnt even factor in that they had evidence that they withheld during the trial. Ivan Bates was co-counsel so you can verify what I am saying along with the record. The States Attorney is required to assess these very cases and determine whether certain pleas should be made and whether certain charges should be pursued. You cant say experience doesnt matter, IT DOES! WRITE IN NEVERDON Early Voting October 23-30 and General Election Day November 4.
