Revenue from the diamond industry in Israel generates about $1 billion annually in funding for the Israeli military which stands accused of war crimes by the UNHRC, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. A high percentage of cut and polished diamonds (50% in US) are processed in Israel where the industry is a “cornerstone of the economy”, accounting for 30% of manufacturing exports - a major source of the foreign currency needed to sustain the nuclear armed apartheid regime and its illegal and brutal subjugation of the Palestinian people.
