YOUTH DEVELOPMENT A Nation/Country that does not focus on her Youths is a country that does not care about the future. The lacks of economic development impact negatively on her Youths, which leads to Youth frustration and the future is not guarantee. It is imperative for Countries to assist her Youths to surpass the stage of illiteracy, unemployment and social vices, e.g. cultism, thuggery, drug abuses etc. According to Punch Newspaper which reported that About 18 job seekers die and many were injured on Saturday (March 15, 2014) during a nationwide recruitment test conducted by the Nigeria immigration service. Applicants reportedly paid the sum of 1,000.00 as application fee, millions of job seekers thronged venues of the exercises, most stadia for the exercises, seven were confirmed dead after a stamped at the national stadium venue of the exercises in the federal capital teriority, and 600,000 seater capacity was filled up. the applications mostly youths hand certificates ranging from masters degree to bachelors degree, HND, ND, NCE,SSCE ,three job seekers out of 11,000,00 candidates who converged on the Women day secondary mina for recruitment exercises died when security agencies fired tear-gas at anxious applicants, five die in rivers, including a pregnant woman at liberation stadium venue of the recruitment exercises and many of the applicants sustained injuries, also in Edo state a pregnant woman also lost her life in Ogbe stadium, in kwara state,22,000. Applicants sat for the test. In kano, 15,000.00 job seekers sat for the test. In Benue, no fewer than 17,800 applications took part in the exercise. In Gombe 5,000 seekers also applied, in crosser river it was 5,000 in Oyo state, 22,500 registered application were present at the venue, in Baysela, 6, 000 applicants sat for recruitment as Samson Sasia stadium in plateau about 10 people fainted that Saturday, more than 30,000 job seekers at for the examination at command secondary school along Zaria road, no death was recorded. In this regard, Government and other Stakeholders need to encourage and sustain Youth development programmes to make the youth more active and creative for the future, assist the Youths in terms of entrepreneurial skills through seminars, conferences, workshop, etc and also support Youth based organizations to enhanced capacity building. Therefore, for a Country/Nation to live to her full potentials, the Youths must be involved in all sectors of leadership, such as politics activities through participation and voting for credible leaders to promote good governance.
