YOUTH LEGAL FRAMEWORK As part of the movement and sensitization YES Has taken upon itself in crippling the large number of ignorance and illiteracy among our timid Nigerians and environs I bring to you some pivotal analysis of the current available datas release by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), based on the availability of those datas about 73.5 million registered voters in Nigeria are young people who constituted the largest percentage of registered voters. this electoral demographic presents a defining block capable of influencing the outcome of election at all levels. There is no gainsaying that one major factor that fuels perpetual political alienation and marginalization of young people from politics is the lack of a definite legal framework that properly classifies the youth. Most instruments or policies prescribing youth age like the National Youth Policy lack the needed binding effects to ensure compliance. Though Nigeria is a signatory to the African Youth Charter, the implementation and domestication still leaves so much to desired. To halt this trend, it is imperative to properly classify Youth as well as set the criterias for appropriate persons qualified to hold elective and appointive position at all levels of governance. Beyond the age threshold, which means most times prelude young people from participating, There are certain statutory provisions that also limit Youth participation in the electoral process. The gross amount of intake form of interest by Nigerian political parties is a direct form of youth discrimination and i here by call on my fellow compatriots in rising against the height of marginalization by our conservating leaders. STAUNCT ON THE ADVOCATE.
