YOUTH OF GILGIT BALTISTAN Naeema Gul, the first person from Gilgit Baltistan to have graduated from Oxford University. She is being welcomed back in her home town with great fanfare. I am truly happy to see that unlike many of its surrounding regions, families in Gilgit Baltistan lay a great emphasis on the education of their children, especially girls. The region has a very high literacy rate and many of its young men and women are either currently studying or have graduated from some of the reputed engineering and other higher educational institutions of Pakistan. This is a great asset for the region and it will pay huge dividend in the near future, provided the region comes out of the messy political entanglement.
