YVONNE PARKER ARTFUL LIVING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND AT THE ART SALON 6:30 - 8:30 PM IN THE ARMORY ART CENTER LIBRARY Yvonne Parker’s life epitomizes Artful Living. She is an artist, interior designer, gallery owner and collector. Yvonne’s early interest, as an artist, focused on collage, decoupage, and mixed-media. Her artistic expressions now range from functional art to major mixed-media sculptures. Sculptor Yvonne Parker combines hand-painted porcelain, vintage ceramics, metal and glass to fashion a world of contemporary, surreal fantasy called “Fragmented Beauty.” Her sculptures have created beauty from pieces of the past; her leitmotif is the rose, which is the universal symbol of love. As an artist/designer, she not only renovates architecturally interesting structures, such as an old nunnery, but also makes her statements through imaginative installations within those spaces. Her latest project is a 100+ year old, 33,000 sf Silk Mill, which she converted into an Art and Cultural Center. Her presentation at the Art Salon will include inspirations from her recent trip through Southeast Asia, where she traveled as an art consultant through six countries in 66 days. Yvonne will share with you her art and design projects and travel inspirations. Additionally, she will take you on a visual tour of her Art and Cultural Center, sharing insights from an art dealer and collector perspective. About the Artist: Yvonne Suzanne Parker grew up in an artist’s family in Europe, studied interior design at NYSID and has shown her art throughout the United States and Europe. Recent exhibitions include a two person show at PBSC Eissey Campus Art Gallery, a solo-show at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and Museum, FL, The Columns Museum in PA, a solo-show at the Armory Art Center as well as participating in shows at the Boca Raton Museum of Art and The American Fine Art Fair, WPB, where she exhibited through The International Sculpture Institute. She presently is co-owner of Parker & Parker Art, Inc., an art publishing company. She is president of PaPA, an Art and Cultural Center in PA. Yvonne Parker lives with her husband, Ron, in a converted nunnery in Pennsylvania and maintains a studio/winter residence in Florida. Theres a $10 fee to attend. If youd like to bring some snacks or drinks to share, that would be much appreciated, and, please, share this announcement with friends. ART SALONS offer stimulating conversations with other artists, in a relaxed setting. As a springboard to each of our explorations, professional artists from South Florida are invited to present their work, talk about what influenced them, and examine the work of influential artists showing in museums and galleries. Our discussions cover the gamut of contemporary art themes, including conceptual, cultural, socio/political, environmental, race and gender focused and aesthetic practices, the materials and techniques used to convey these ideas, and where we fit into the world of contemporary conceptual art. They’re also an opportunity to explore the practical side of being an artist, of professional development and the sharing of useful resources.
