YWCA of WNY is looking for a DIRECTOR – CHILDREN’S SERVICES Status: Full-Time Department: Children’s Services Reports to: Director of Operations, CEO Locations: 1005 Grant Street, Family Court Drop-In Center and Cleveland Hill Elementary Overall Scope The YWCA of WNY, Inc. has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive and high quality programs and services that foster healthy development and nurture the potential of every child. Serving low-income children and their families in Western New York, our comprehensive child development centers provide educational, social, emotional and wellness services. Programs promote school success and family involvement and reflect the cultural diversity of our participants. Our Director – Children’s Services is responsible for the day to day operations of all sites and programs. This includes implementation and adherence to licensing regulations and standards set by regulatory agencies. The Director is responsible for programming and ensures regulations are met and managed through collection and reporting of necessary data. The Director oversees development and implementation of all programming, training, supervision and staff development, conducts regular monitoring to ensure that program policies and procedures are being followed, manages collection and reporting of required data, and assists teachers in coordinating services that benefit the children and families we serve. Our Director is a dynamic person who is able to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential. Director is responsible for three child care sites; School House Commons Day Care Center, Family Court Drop-In Site, and Cleveland Hill Elementary School Extended Day Program. Responsibilities • Stays current with research and literature related to emerging trends and promising practices in early childhood development and school age youth programming. • Plan, coordinate, and administer child care programming to meet the physical, emotional, social and academic needs of the children. • Ensure that all licensing and regulation standards are met, including NYS OCFS, DSS, SACC, CACFP and Unified Court System. Maintain accurate and complete records and filing system for the child care sites. • Hire and supervise child care staff, including: scheduling work and vacation hours, conducting staff evaluations in a timely manner, and facilitating staff training and development. • Review and evaluate child care site programming, providing constructive feedback to staff and supervisors. • Coordinate the activities of the sites with community resources to help meet the needs of families and to improve the quality of child care in the community. • Work in collaboration with staff, parents and community resources to improve and enhance sites. • Oversee Children’s Services department budget development and management; financial management and funder reporting: track and record necessary paperwork for complete and accurate financial records; supervise and confirm accuracy of reports; provide timely updates to data in account management system; • Submit timely requests for site purchases; keep inventories of materials, supplies and equipment. • Maintain familiarity with established YWCA policies on child abuse and or neglect, and ensure staff compliance with their role as a mandated reporter. • Read and understand the YWCA Policy and Procedural Manual as it pertains to staff members under supervision. • Develop, coordinate and administer programs for interns and volunteers. • Make decisions regarding acceptance and/or referral of children in daycare. • Attend required trainings and complete at least 12 hours of professional development per year. • Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications • Master’s degree in an education related field, with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience; or Bachelor’s degree in an education-related field and a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience. • Expert knowledge of NYS child care and SACC regulations required • Certified in CPR and standard first aid • Experience with CACFP and grant management helpful • Successfully complete a criminal background check • Must be well organized and self-directed, attention to detail a must.
