Yacht Rock song of the day: 34 years ago today Styx has their only #1 single with a song Dennis DeYoung supposedly wrote for his wifes birthday. DeYoung hadnt meant it to be a Styx song but guitarists Tommy Shaw and James Young talked him into putting it on Cornerstone (Shaw dubbing licks onto the middle section of the Demo). Though it remains a (ahem) cornerstone of DeYoung performances, Styx hasnt played it since they gave their hit song writing lead vocalist/keyboardist the boot in 1999. https://youtube/watch?v=uBi61pgDUP8
