Yall remember that nice bench Tino built for me? Well, here is his buddys strat that I fixed in trade. Lets file this under...resurrection. This is a heavily franken-swapped strat. Different neck & body, the bridge is technically a hair wide for the neck, electronics had been gutted and swapped, turd of a nut half shoved in the slot...lordy lordy. It has been very played, abused, and not really taken care of over the years. I honestly dont know how the heck this guy even played it in its condition. First up was a rewire. The tone pots tested okay, along with the switch. I put in a new volume pot and stereo jack. All of the wiring was replaced as needed, and the pickup leads were stripped back and done proper-like. From there it was off to the neck jig for a precision fret level and dress. Afterwards I hand crafted a new bone nut, and then finished it off with a meticulous setup. What most would have written off as a file this in the dumpster was turned into a screamin player with a little love and a whole lotta elbow grease! Theres not many guys out there like Tino that would do something like building a bench for me in trade for a guitar job for his buddy; ie: no concrete gain for himself. I only know one or two people like that. Hopefully his buddy is grinning ear to ear, thankful to have a friend like Tino. I know Im glad to call him my friend!
