Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood would like to see a big turnout for the next public meeting of the All Hands on Deck initiative. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rodd Grand Hotel, this will be a follow-up to the well-attended All Hands on Deck meeting of last September. What the mayor describes as “exciting announcements” will be made at the March 19 session. “We’re working on a couple things that are huge for the community,” she said. The meeting will include updates on where the different committees are with regard to the things they’re working on. The idea, the mayor says, is that the teams will indicate if they need anything and that people at the meeting will offer to help them. “It may be anything from paint brushes to paint to carpentry work, flowers, weeding or anything in between,” she said. “The goal for the evening is to have each (project) ready to go.” As for what the Town of Yarmouth is doing, the mayor says Councilor Phil Mooney will talk about this at the March 19 meeting. “We have a number of things on the go,” the mayor said. Mayor Mood has, on many occasions, expressed her appreciation for how people came on board with All Hands on Deck and she says efforts have been made to contact everyone who signed up. She invites those not contacted yet to send her an email at [email protected]. In the meantime, as she prepares for the next public meeting of her much-talked-about All Hands on Deck initiative – an effort to get the community engaged in moving the area forward, particularly with a new ferry on the way – the mayor says it’s important to keep the momentum going. “My hope is that many come to the meeting (on March 19),” she said. “While we have lots of volunteers, let’s not lose sight of the fact that there is much to be done and ‘someone else’ will not do it. So as we head towards warmer weather, it’s once again: All Hands on Deck. Bring it.”
