Yay its my Embolism Anniversary! A year ago today, I thought I pulled a muscle on my right side. Popped some Advil, and continued moving furniture. By the next morning, I thought I had REALLY wrenched something and dove into leftover pain meds. Didnt want to bother anyone with a trek to the hospital, so I took meds and did my normal. By the next morning, day 3, I was relatively sure I had an alien trying to claw its way out of my chest. ER visit, and hello Pulmonary Embolism. Hello week in critical care. My pulmonary doc shook my hand, telling me it should have been diagnosed at autopsy, so he was thrilled to meet me. Holy crap. Moral of the story? Pulmonary embolisms dont present in a textbook way every time. All I had was pain. Moral 2? Dont be a freaking MORON, like me. If something hurts, go get checked. Dont wait 3 days!!!!!
