((Yeah, another crying toddler post but please keep in mind this is Kris Hawthorne were talking about. ;) Shes not exactly mother material of the year.)) *Kris was halfway hung over the living room sofa in her temporary dormitory, trying to drown out the sound of the toddlers persistent screaming that had carried on through the greater half of the morning. She and Damon had dealt with the unfortunate task of dragging Jonathan with them while they attended their two mandatory classes of the day and he hadnt been overly happy about the situation. While Damon had retreated to his dorm for a few hours sleep, Kris was left with the daunting duty of trying to manage the two year olds needs. Unfortunately she didnt appear to be doing the best job of it because the boy was situated on the carpet in the middle of the room, wrapped in his down quilt with tears streaming down his reddened cheeks. His medium brown hair was askew on top of his head and his left hand was clinging to the stuffed dragon which seemed to be his favorite out of the group of toy animals his parents had provided.* Stop crying please. *She begged, tilting her head up to glance at the distressed toddler.* Mummy *The boy choked out between muffled sobs, rubbing the side of his face with his tiny fingers.* Your mummys not here right now. *She murmured, which did little to pacify him.* Youre going to end up waking Damon and trust me, hes grumpier than I am without sleep. *When the boys cries continued, she expelled a small sigh from her lips and lifted herself to her feet.* If you stop crying, Ill give you a sweet. *It was a weak attempt at shutting him up and at this point she doubted it would do any good. Still, it was the first idea that came to mind and a tactic her own mother had put to recurring use when Kris and Chase were both young. The offer seemed to at least rouse his interests because the crying had temporarily subsided and he looked up at her with inquisitive hazel eyes.* Story. *He whimpered quietly, tugging on the corners of the blanket.* I dont know any stories. *She folded her arms across her chest and returned the boys gaze* Story... *He repeated, his lower lip beginning to quiver threateningly* *She frowned slightly and tucked a strand of fallen hair behind her ear, that had been pulled loose from her messy ponytail* ~What was that one story dad used to read us....~ Do you know Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump? *When she received no answer, Kris wordlessly slid down next to him on the carpet and pulled the toddler gingerly into her arms* A long time ago, in a far-off land, there lived a foolish King who decided that he alone should have the power of magic. He therefore commanded the head of his army... *She did her best to recall the main plot points of the story and luckily Jonathan seemed to calm down by the end of it. She quickly made a mental note to put this to idea to good use later when faced with the next inevitable problem.* ((Hollys will come later, whenever I get the inspiration for it.))
