Yeah, so genre music is weird. Think of it like this, lets pretend youre on your couch, and youre alone, and youre pretty high. Before long, you become hungry, and you arise and make haste for your kitchen and cupboards and fridge because thats where you normally keep food. The mere sight of food has you excited to eat. What do you do first? Hm, Im guessing your instinct at that moment would NOT be to find out what all the kids are eating, learn some recipes, and drive to the grocery store to shop for a whole bunch of ingredients that some you dont even like and some you have never even heard of, only to return home and clumsily put together a meal that you have to at least pretend to enjoy after all that effort, and feel secure in knowing that although not one person was around to witness your impressive effort, you are relevant cuz now when they talk about that kind of food, they mean you. OR... do you go to your kitchen, think of what you can either make or consume based on what ingredients you have already? And how difficult is it to come to this decision? I doubt you would involve too many other people in it. You see where Im going with this? The value is not in making and selling thinly veiled copy works of other currently popular songs, nor would you care to force yourself to make something so original that its barely listenable. The integrity, and the heart, and the emotional value of what you make is in its sincerity.
