Yeah...what she said!!! Exactly what is going thru my head today... FROM: Heidi Schermerhorn-Wagner Just one those days where I would like to spew off with my mouth but no it will not get me anywhere. I work 6 days a week full time, try to run the rescue (along with some other awesome partners) and see very little of my family. And yet I sit here at the computer looking at the 18 faces we lost at the Greenville shelter tonight. Some pretty damn awesome dogs were put to sleep. They were the forgotten ones. Some where ones that rescues stepped for and at the minute backed out - which infuriates me because basically that "rescue" just gave that animal its death sentence. We are allowed such a short amount of time to work on these animals and do not work on them after a rescue commits to one but then with a hour to go to "death" time they back out. Think People Think. And quit taking in dogs that you really actually do not have the means to give them the proper medical care they need and deserve. It is sad because so many of them do not make it out but it is even sadder to me that sometimes they go to rescue and do not even get the care they need or deserve. Yes our rescue has taken in several medical dogs and emotionally challenged dogs and we never push hard for them to be adopted because it is not about getting rid of them it is about finding the most absolute perfect home that is beyond a shadow of a doubt the "Perfect" home for them. Do we keep some dogs for some time - yes but when you walk away from their new home after they had been with you for months there are no words to describe the feeling. Patience and love my friends. It pays off in the long run. 18 innocent dogs lost their lives today - some damn awesome dogs!!!! If you are sitting there saying there is no way I can help. Everyone can do something. If you cant adopt - Foster a dog, volunteer for a local rescue or shelter, donate money or much needed supplies and the list goes on. Together we can make a difference in these innocent animals lives. My heart is heavy tonight as I looked at each one of those precious dogs faces that were euthanzied tonight but all you can do is keep fighting and know that while you cant save them all - for the ones that you can save - their lives will change forever
