Year in Review 6: Junes happenings: Tattnall Square Park was named June’s national “Frontline Park” by the City Parks Alliance in recognition for FOTS’s “innovative practices in partnerships and neighborhood engagement. The title is awarded once a month to a park that “exemplifies innovation, urban park excellence and stewardship nation wide. June also saw the parking lot removed by the city, clearing the way for the gateway promenade and the rejoining of Tattnall’s eastern corner to the rest of the park. The Juneteenth festival was held in the park, and our rain garden bridge was completed just a few days after the first couple asked about having a wedding around the bridge. June also saw-- Twelve sapsuckers drumming Eleven squirrels chewing Ten tennis courts a Leapin’ (with the State Regional Championships) Nine volunteers planting Eight Little Library books lending Seven mockingbirds mocking Six cardinals singing Five Carolina saddlebags Four Sunrise Yogas Three Science Days Two magnolia finials (moulded) And a Turkey Buzzard in an Oak Tree.
