Years ago I moved to North Carolina looking for a new start in a new state. I didnt know anyone there and besides my son who was very young at the time, the closest family member, or friend was hundreds of miles away. Besides feeling incredibly lonely, I was incredibly broke, having spent all of my savings on the move, new furniture, rent etc. One day I went grocery shopping while my son was in school. I had so little cash at the time it was crazy. When I got to the check-out line I placed my items on the conveyor belt. The brother in front of me was just about to pay for his items when he handed the cashier some cash and said...and include her items too. I remember laughing out loud and saying yeah right. I smiled at him though, knowing he was kidding and started digging in my bag for the small wad of cash at the bottom of it. By the time I looked up, to my absolute astonishment, the brother had paid for all of my groceries. What? I said looking from the brother, to the cashier and back again in disbelief. But why? The brother just smiled warmly at me and said Because life is a blessing...and walked away. Sometimes people you come across in life need help, encouragement, a kind word...just something to give them hope. They might look like they have it all together, but often this is just a facade. So if ever youre able, extend a helping hand to someone. You never know whose life you might touch, simply by going out of your way to do something kind. Nearly 10 years later, I remember and am so grateful for that brother...so much so I had to share this story with you all. Send him some positive vibes for me and try your best to pass along the gift of love to those around you. ♥
