Years ago, Susan was called to be on a jury. The defendant was charged with theft. Even though the defendant appeared and looked very guilty, there was simply no concrete evidence or eye witness statements or corroborating evidence. She was forewoman. The jury was racially mixed and male and female. The unanimous verdict was innocent. Juries are supposed to work with evidence and presumable innocence. Folks, that is how it should always work. How could looting and riots be considered a justifiable recourse to a verdict you do not like? There are other ways to protest that do not harm innocents.
