Years before the late Don Pardo announced Saturday Night Live, he was the announcer for another live NBC comedy-variety show, The Colgate Comedy Hour. Don announced the Colgate shows during 1950 and 1951, when they were being performed in New York City (the show eventually moved to Hollywood). The series had an interesting format of rotating hosts, and Don introduced Martin & Lewis, Abbott & Costello, Eddie Cantor, Fred Allen and others.
