Yep. Egomania. Witigo has spread and is controlling much of this great unfolding. I have come to realize that many in positions of influence today are using their influence to fuel discord and division. The path behind them is littered with damaged relations as a result of dysfunctional and toxic behavior. Our people are in a social crisis because we have forgotten how to live a compassionate, kind and loving life. Among our people there is gossiping, lying, backstabbing, bullying driven by jealousy, meanness, spitefulness, pride, and arrogance. And this way of being is the way of many of our leaders, elders, men, and women. So quick to judge and cast judgment that we fail to just be kind humans. Who among us is perfect? Not one walking among us today. So we must all be mindful of our own imperfection and instead just seek to walk in our own truth. This is my battle and this has been the battle of every human life since time began. There is little if any wisdom or common sense among even the most seasoned let alone those within the current destructive capitalist system and its arm of control. Where is Wisdom? She is not to be found anywhere. Many in positions of great influence are ego-driven and push forward their own agendas and put forward names of those who they like. Its disturbing. Yes, people who are well-connected are being heard. But just because someone knows a lot of well-connected people does not mean they are being heard because of authentic merit. Or that any have a message for the times for that matter. If any one persons contribution is to be of any value and provide guidance during this hour of the struggle between light and darkness, it must be measured in its purity of motive, and if nothing else surely it must be clearly focused on the PEOPLEs struggle. Last fall, I stepped away from engagement in activism because of concerns I had, but I just continued to proceed forward doing what little or great I could through my own small efforts as a teacher. I refused to allow what I saw around me determine who I felt I needed to be or say, nor did I seek approval from any individual or body of individuals. I walked in my own truth, trusting in my Creator, and allowed the chips to fall as they may. My hope is that those who have pushed themselves into the forefront of the PEOPLEs struggle not become obstacles themselves. That the aspirations of the PEOPLE not become lost in the personal feelings of one toward another or others and/or become imbedded in a quagmire of leadership and career activist agendas. In my humble opinion, there is a real risk of this when we use colonial thinking and processes. We must break free of these processes and provide opportunity for the people to redefine not only the processes but the means to determining what voices are spokespeople as well. If we are not serving the people when we sit in these circles and on any level advancing our own interests, then our voices are not part of any solution but instead remain but a part of the colonial conditioning that created this mess. Far too many individuals are perpetuating the status quo by aligning themselves with sectors of the current global capitalist system and are not a legitimate voice for THE PEOPLE. Over the next few days, Ottawa will be receiving activists from across this great land for the Peoples Social Forum. Time will tell what direction and/or momentum will come from this costly event nested within the confines of so-called Canadas capital city. To date, the PSF has not demonstrated any effectiveness in creating momentum or direction for a global grassroots Peoples movement. Time will tell.
