Yep. If you or a loved one have this look to your neck, underarms, or thighs you need to be checked for diabetes! This skin darkening (and different texture) is not dirt. Its an insulin problem. Its called acanthosis nigricans. I have this. I had it for years before I found out I was having problems with my blood sugars. Uncontrolled diabetes can cause a lot of damage to your body. No amount of scrubbing will cure this. You need to control your blood sugars. Sadly this is one symptom that rarely goes away. I hate it! This is why I dont like to wear my hair up in public unless Im wearing a turtleneck.
