Yerevan City Central Library after Avetik Isahakyan Vacancy Announcement Open to: All interested candidates Position: Librarian, American Corner Yerevan Opening Date: 10 September, 2014 Closing Date: 20 September, 2014 General description Under the general supervision of the Director of the Yerevan City Central Library after Avetik Isahakyan (YCCL) the librarian of the American Corner in Yerevan is responsible for providing library and research services for the organization and maintenance of the library and its collections. The librarian acquires, organizes, promotes and disseminates a wide range of resources to meet the diverse needs of the community. The Corner is a small, American-style library and program center created to increase mutual understanding between Armenia and the United States by making available information about America in a variety of formats. The Corner offers books, CDs, videos, internet access, programs and discussion groups. Some weekend and evening hours are required. . Education: University diploma Recommended Qualifications: • General knowledge of history, values, society, culture, education, and politics of the United States of America. • Ability to assess community interest in American topics. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in Armenian and English. • Skill in working with youth. • Skills in prioritizing work assignments. • Ability to effectively present information to groups of different ages and educational levels. • Ability to respond in a timely manner to questions from supervisors, customers, and the general public. • Basic knowledge of computers and the Internet. • Skill in use of a wide range of current computer applications including Internet, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word processing and spreadsheet).
