Yes. In any field a lack of passion at the top will find its way into the entire organization. I dont know Mr. Smith or much about him, but many say that he does not like football. Good owners either love the game, or love they status, attenction or ego-stroking excitement of the game. We are not seeing any of this in the current ownership. Then comes the money. Lack of passison effects the financial support. And frankly I have always felt they were cheap, which you used fairly in your araticle. Being cheap over time rots the organization at all levels, not just the players. Assistant coaches, marketing executives, specialty coaches, trainers... everybody are also a notch down. The orgaizations reputation, the expectations of players and employees, the brand are low, and that then runs off great players. (I still have to laugh that some thought Peyton Manning was seriously thinking of coming to the Titans.) Most top free agents would not consider playing here without the solid belief that a major change was underway, much like you describe. Why play for the Titans even with the off-chance they might make a competive financial offer if it means losing, working with weak players and knowing your owner doesnt care? That is why you are correct. Only a major overhaul will work, and that should include from the top-office down.
