Yes, No, Maybe So? Who else is interred here? As speculated in the last posting, this is my own assumption, are there still Native American burials we dont know of? Frederick Michaels- 1829-1884. German. I placed him here because his obituary doesnt match up, maybe family or the reporter got it wrong, but heres the info; Laid to rest at the family vault at the Bailly Cemetery, a fine vault valued at $1000. There are no vaults there. Present construction was in 1914. Mary Therese de la Vigne- 1808-1867. Daughter of Marie by 1st marriage. Enumerated by the Park Dept. reports, David Frederick, a Bailly Descendant, has shown proof she is buried in Uniontown Cemetery in Willard, Kansas. Mary Esther (Bailly) Whistler- 1811-1842. Known to family as Esther. No tombstone exists for her at the cemetery. In Frances R. Howes book, she reports an Aunt coming for her funeral and burial. Uncle Whistler was wild with grief, and could not endure to remain where everything reminded him of his bereavement. He had a good opportunity of beginning life anew in Kansas, and taking his 4 boys with him, went there. Severing himself entirely from all that could recall to mind the days of vanished happiness. Josephine Hortense (Bailly) Wicker- 1823-1855. Known to family as Hortense. No tombstone exists for her at the cemetery. In her book, Frances R. Howe states, When Aunt Hortense died, her remains were brought here from Chicago, to be laid beside Aunt Esther. Bailey descendants believe they were both buried in Chicago. She was married to developer Joel Wicker, he and his brother whom Wicker Park, and its neighborhood are named after. The McDonald Tombstones Sidney McDonald- Died 1862. Son of Henry R. and Martha McDonald. Eliza McDonald- Died 1864. (Same info. as above.) These tombstones were discovered on the back of the McDonald farm, and reportedly moved to the Bailly Cemetery.
