Yes or no? As you may have heard, we are going to have a vote up here and I have been giving it some thought. The politicians are not much help because they have made their mind up first and then spin the facts to fit: the SNP support Yes because that us who they are. The Conservative and Unionist party have the answer in the name - they will be for the union. Labour will loose 41 seats if we split and thus any decent chance of power will evaporate for a couple of decades, so their position is also pre-determined. So what do I think? No clarity there either. My heart says yes, the proud, Scottisb, emotional response. My head says no, we are stronger as part of a larger whole. But today, I have been in England. Nearly all of if. Manchester, Derby, London, Central and suburbs. I have been to kite events in England and the occasional dash South for a meeting and back but today is the first time I have been properly immersed in England for two years... And it is a foreign country. What was once familiar is now foreign and alien. I have no crystal ball. I can not tell which would be the more secure, the more prosperous choice but the answer now seems clear: To be ruled by London makes as much sense as being ruled by Paris. Or Rome. Or New York. Or Tokyo. But there is a week and a half still to go. Might change my mind again...
