Yes, there is such a thing as playing too hard. Little Mia - TopicsExpress

Yes, there is such a thing as playing too hard. Little Mia completely broke both her tibia and her fibula by playing too hard with her foster sister. This required more than just setting the bone; it required orthopedic surgery. Dr. Paul W. Dean and his wife Gayle have the Mustang Veterinary Surgical in Pilot Point, TX. Dr. Dean is a wonderful orthopedic surgeon. He had little Mia fixed up in no time. It required a plate and screws to hold the bones firmly in place. No bandages were necessary after surgery - just a cone and LOTS of total bed rest. This sweet, active puppy is mostly confined to her crate for at least three weeks. She gets to come out of the crate for brief potty breaks and to take a stretch. Considering all that has happened and how drastically her puppy life has changed, she is handling it all very well. Mia is a sweetheart! Thanks to Julie Hess for helping to get Mia to her surgery on Monday morning! A huge thanks to Dr. Dean for putting her back together again! Mias bones are strong. It was just a freak accident, but Mia will be as good as new very soon. She should be completely healed and ready for adoption in about 6 weeks. Mia’s surgery cost was $1550.00. If you would like to contribute toward her medical expenses, please go to ridgebackrescue.org/donate/index.html and please make a contribution in Honor of Mia dog id #4506. Any donations in excess of Mia’s expenses will be used for other dogs in our rescue program. We Thank You!!!
