‘Yes, this is the hair-clip of my sister Tabinda’ FSL Experts Confirm Involvement Of All Accused As Samples Match Shabeer Ahmad Kupwara, June 12: In a significant development, experts from the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) in Srinagar have confirmed the involvement of all the four accused in the Tabinda Gani rape and murder case. All the four accused are already in the custody of police. Senior Prosecuting Officer Ghulam Muhammad Shah Wednesday told Greater Kashmir that “Director FSL Bemina Dr HC Bhagat has revealed in the Sessions Court at Kupwara that the three pair of slippers (Chappel) and a pair of shoes belonging to four accused against whom the trial is on matched the molds (clay samples) collected by police from the incident site after the victim was gang-raped and brutally murdered by slitting her throat.” “Design pattern of sole corresponded similarly on both the exhibits (molds), some clay stuck on the inner margin side of the heels corresponds similar impressions on both the exhibits. Wear and tear mark on the inner margin side of a heal is giving similar impression. Foot impressions are (matching) with the impressions made on the molds recovered by the concerned police station from the site of the incident. I have personally tested these molds and all are matching with the slippers and chapels,” confirmed Dr Bhagat before the Principal and District Sessions Judge Kupwara Muhammad Ibrahim. Dr Bhagat identified the broken hair clips and wrist-watch when shown by senior public prosecutor. “Yes this is the same hair clip which I have examined and it has damaged due to external pressure and side-bar of the wrist-watch is broken due to excessive pulling,” he said. When the broken hair clip and wrist watch was produced in the court, tears rolled down the eyes of people present in the court room. “This is the hair-clip of my sister Tabinda,” said Muhammad Iqbal Shah, as he was consoled by people present there. Dr Shabir Ahmad Yasvi, Senior Scientific officer FSL Bemina Srinagar confirmed before the court that four glasses and a bottle seized from the incident site by police and handed over to FSL contained liquor. With the recording of statements of two important witnesses today, the number of witnesses recorded has reached 86 and the statement of Abdul Ahad Sub-Inspector Police Station Handwara (Member of police SIT) and Dr Latief Ahmad Dar will be recorded on 19th June, the next date of hearing fixed by Sessions Court Kupwara.” “Police had cited total 88 witnesses in this barbarous and sensational case and with the recording the statements of two witnesses today total number of witnesses recorded their statements so far have reached 86. We are going to close the process of examining the witnesses on 19 June on the next date of hearing,” Shah, Senior Public Prosecutor, said. The gruesome incident had sent shock waves across Kashmir and triggered spontaneous protests. Following the public outcry police had registered a case under FIR No. 152/20-07-2007 under sections363/369/302/376-B in police station Handwara and arrested four accused—Muhammad Sadiq Mir alias Saeda Choor, Azhar Ahmad Mir alias Billa, both residents of Langate Handwara and two non-locals Mochi Jahangir Ansari from West Bengal and Suresh Kumar from Rajasthan, and had filed a challan against them. Police had claimed that accused had confessed to their crime and prosecution’s case was very strong.
