Yesterday (April 1) Discovery announced a new series called Survivor Live which is basically a real version of the The Hunger Games. Survivalists are going to be dropped in the wilderness and viewers will watch them and give prizes to their favorite contestants. Tee-hee. Awesome April Fools joke because Discovery almost does this already. Today, Grantland has an article with analysis of the show and its moral implications. Also, what will the prize be?! The writer offhandedly says she isnt entirely sure it isnt an April Fools joke but she pitched the article and her editors told her to write it and they published it. So is Grantland just messing with her? Messing with us? Taking April Fools to April 2 (like second day yom tov in chutz laretz)? Did Grantland fall for it? Wait, is this show actually real?
