Yesterday I bought a big meshed bag of oranges, a sack of apples, and another of tangerines. Now, these items werent bought due to an intense love of fruit, instead, they are part of my Christmas past, a time when all the senses in my body heightened to such a tremendous degree, the memory cabinet opened to store every crumb. In my home, fruit and Christmas went together like peanut and jelly, you couldnt have one without the other. Santa left these memory makers under the tree, each with its own fragrance and taste. And then there was the sprinkling of nuts around the tree, scattered among the dolls and books and plastic tea sets, as if the elves brought these to snack on while they worked placing each toy in just the right spot. Simple memories, loaded with smells and taste and touch and sight, I barely remember the toys, except for Tiny Tears, how could I ever forget her? Wishing every child a Christmas full of magic memories that cant break or become obsolete. Do you have some of your own, please share.
