Yesterday I felt sad whn I saw the millitary capabilities of the Indian forces. It did not seem like the army of a rising power, but a gendarmie of some african nation. They showed an indigenous fighter (Tejas) tht is at least a generation behind the world. They showed a cruise missile (Brahmos) tht can only be fired for 300 kms, (meaning a submarine firing it in th arabian sea can max reach Hyderabad in Sind and not even touch pakistani punjab). They showed a multi barrel rocket system tht fires unguided rockets for 90km whn the world standard is guided precision rockets wth a range of 350km. Apart from this, all the fighters (like Sukhois) were russian and the troop carriers (Globe master & hercules) were american. Meaning tht those countries can reduce our capabilities by preventing upgrades or providing spare parts at critical times. We need to invest in our defence or we will face the same situation tht Indira Gandhi faced in April 71, whn she asked Sam Manikshaw to attack Pakistan and he flatly refused saying tht the indian army was unprepared. Only when Pakistan attacked us in dec 71 were we forced to respond and only won because the pakistani army was even worse than us. We might not be so lucky next time. Think about it.
