Yesterday I had an amazing experience with an autowala in Bengaluru. Yes! You heard it right. The moment I got into it I saw a small book rack was there with Quran, Bible and some other books. and then it was written there Peace Auto. I was curious to know what it is. The driver told me it was an association which was formed 3 months back and around 200 autowalas have registered (note around 1,90,000 autos are there). The rule is (i) they wont deny to go to any destination, (ii) theyll not charge more than the meter and (iii) one-and half will be charged post 9.30 pm. I was surprised and asked why did you make such an organisation when people pay you what you ask?. He replied everyone thinks autowalas are bad people. We are trying to change that image. That was just WOW. and the climax was even superb when he gave me back exactly Rs.25/- (no he didnt take Rs.30/-) when I gave him Rs.50/-. Guess now Ill miss Mumbai even lesser.
