Yesterday, I had to get out of the house to continue studying. I went down to a beach hotel, Corona Del Mar. They have wifi and tables outside looking at the water, a great day to be outside with the ocean breeze. A 7 year old came up with necklaces and bracelets and confronted me with, Super sale, make my day, buy a present for your wife, special sale and special price for only you. She was a cute little toothless baby that has been selling since she could talk. Her older sisters arrived shortly, aged 9 and 13 with more jewelry that their whole family makes. The baby was trying to get one of the beaded necklaces that I eyed loose from the bunch tied together and the fishing string broke and spilled little beads all over the table. It broke my heart. I made a purchase that lightened their load and provided more income than the average Belizean brings home in two weeks labor. Then gave them $20 more for 2 $3 bracelets. I then told them a Bible story they had not had a chance to hear about a brave young boy who confronted a giant and became King. Related it to the baby with such good confronting skill. They left smiling. And I get to give presents to my beautiful bride. And some for us to gift others as well. I left smiling too.
