Yesterday I posted a quote from Glen Urquhart, a former Republican candidate for the House of Representatives and active voice in the Tea Party, stating that the phrase “separation of Church and state” was a contribution to the American lexicon by Adolf Hitler. One of my friends saw the post and said it was unfair to judge any organization by its fringe members. It’s a good point and I think he was wise to make it. So feeling motivated to discover if the more prominent leaders of the Tea Party movement shared in Mr. Urquhart’s particular brand of hyperbolic paranoia and penchant for Nazi references, I decided to delve a little deeper. Brace yourselves. “Al Gores not going to be rounding up Jews and exterminating them. It is the same tactic, however. The goal is different. The goal is globalization. The goal is global carbon tax.…You need to have fear. You needed to have the fear of starvation. You needed to have the fear of the whole place going to hell in a hand basket. Which — do we have that fear now with global warming?…Then you have to discredit the scientists that say Thats not right. And you must silence all dissenting voices. Thats what Hitler did. Thats what Al Gore, the U.N., and everybody on the global warming bandwagon [are doing].” -Glenn Beck, 30 April 2007, speaking on the environmentalist documentary, An Inconvenient Truth “And it was from America. Progressive movement in America. Eugenics. In case you dont know what Eugenics led us to: the Final Solution. A master race! A perfect person. …. The stuff that we are facing is absolutely frightening. So I guess I have to put my name on yes, I hope Barack Obama fails. But I just want his policies to fail; I want America to wake up.” -Glenn Beck, 9 March, 2009, comparing stem cell research to the Hitler’s pursuit of a master race “Look, we saw in Britain, Neville Chamberlain, who told the British people, ‘Accept the Nazis. Yes, they’ll dominate the continent of Europe but that’s not our problem. Let’s appease them. Why? Because it can’t be done. We can’t possibly stand against them.” -Ted Cruz, September 2013, comparing the acceptance of the AFC to Nazi appeasement Ive always been fascinated by the fact that here was a relatively small country (Nazi Germany) that from a strictly military point of view accomplished incredible things. -Rich Iott, October 2010, explaining why for years he donned a Waffen SS uniform and participated in battle reenactments as part of a group called the Wikings.
