Yesterday I snuck in some time to DIY another piece for the kitchen ( we gutted it last year and are almost done!!) I have a farmhouse/ country style going and have collected fruit labels for YEARS knowing that some day I would use them... This project is super simple and uses a reproduction ( color copy) of a label that I purchased from our local historical society. I grabbed a scrap of wood and painted it with Americana paints, in Ebony Black. Then I sanded the edges, and distressed it here and there. Another favorite product is DecoArt Decou-page in a matte finish. Brush onto the board, the back of the cut out label ( copy) and then once centered, brush more on top. When completely dry, add One Step Crackle finish on top (I use a lg brush and work from a puddle on my pallet.) Once that is DRY and crackled ( it doesnt like COLD, so I help it along with a hair dryer) then I brushed a washy layer of Burnt Umber paint over the top and wiped it back off. The paint settles into the crackle - then you see them! After dry, spray with a varnish ( I like a matte or satin finish). Looks old ( and expensive!)..easy peasy DIY!! #Happy30thDecoArt
