Yesterday I visited an age care home. I was going to share some - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I visited an age care home. I was going to share some smiles at their afternoon tea event. We were all finding our seats in the tea room when a man named Jock entered. Just as he got through the door he put his arms out and declared Well this is a fine mess then! I asked him what was a fine mess. He said I dont know but what ever it is, its a fine mess. Just as he finished speaking the music on the piped sound system changed (The centre has music piped through all the rooms). Cheek to Cheek by Fred Astaire began. I couldnt help it, Jock still had his arms our like he was holding an invisible dance partner so I asked May I have this dance? He looked at me and I started singing the words. I know the words to most Fred Astaire songs. Ive watched most of his movies! Jock just looked at me and then a smile started to form on his face. He put one arm on my shoulder and began to move. We carefully danced for a full minute before he declared he was done and I helped him to his seat. The music hadnt finished so I danced around the room doing steps with lots of the residents. I couldnt believe how many knew the words, and most were swaying, some were dancing, it was wonderful. When the track finished most people applauded and there were so many smiles. We decided that as well as random acts of smiling, and random acts of kindness there should be more random acts of dancing. I will move a little differently in the supermarket now because yes, random acts of dancing are good and I dont care what others think of me, I am only here once and I plan to have a smiley time and dancing makes me smile and you never know, someone might just join me. It was a very good day.
