Yesterday, I was excited to spend my Boston Public Radio segment praising Deval Patricks legacy for the state and, more personally, thanking him for the opportunities he gave me. In 2006, he appointed me the states first homeland security advisor -- only the second woman to hold that role for any governor and the first Arab-American in a field not known for diversity, Patricks commitment to opening doors for all is still without compare.
