Yesterday I went in to see my Kidney Doctor. I was a little - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I went in to see my Kidney Doctor. I was a little worried when I went in because I had seen a report that suggested my kidneys were on the decline again. I was very pleased when he told me I was doing OUTSTANDING, that the last time he had seen me 9 months ago I was in a wheel chair, could hardly stand, had lost a lot of weight, had problems with reoccurring pneumonia, and in general felt I was not doing well at all. He saw weight gain, that I was walking using only a cane, that my lungs sounded clear and most importantly my kidneys had returned to near normal, something he had said on an earlier visit would probably not happen. My blood pressure was a on the high side (I was taking one BP med to increase my BP and 2 others to decrease it in an attempt to stabilize it) so he took me off the BP med that increases it. He also said that that med tended to cause retention of sodium and the loss of potassium and protein leakage from my kidneys, all of which I was experiencing. He told me that by stopping that I may soon be able to get off of the diuretic which is also used to lower BP, which would be nice since I have to go quite often for some time after I take it each morning. I was given instruction to stop taking one of the potassium supplements and to stop taking calcium supplements. He did raise the amount of vitamin D I am to take each day. Over all I have to praise the Lord for this victory. I had woken up feeling very well that morning, and when I got home from the Dr.s visit I helped my grandchildren get restarted on a project we had tried to do last summer but I had ran out of strength to finish. We’ll have that done soon. I also felt strong enough and had enough energy that with my daughter Teresa’s help I started on some house maintenance that needed to be done (the door opening into the shop was pulling off the door frame do to people hanging onto the door knob while stepping up and into the house) to help keep the home a safe place for my family and friends. I believe we will be able to get that finished today. It was the first time in over 3 years, since my last stem cell transplant, that I have been able to do anything like that. I was ecstatic that I could do it at all! Again praise the Lord for His work in me. I see my regular doctor tomorrow and am hoping he will take me off of a couple more meds. I see the folks at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance on the 23rd of this month, and was told that they will consider starting tapering me off of the two meds, one that impairs my immune system and a steroid (Prednisone) that wrecks havoc with my sleep and at time makes me real grouchy! I am so looking forward to that! Maybe they will even take me off a few more meds. As to why I am so sure that the Lord is working in me, when the doctor called me over 13 years ago and told me they had found a lymphoma when they biopsied the tonsils they had just removed, as he said lymphoma the Lord whispered to me “This is in my hands for My glory, you don’t sweat it.” In all this time since then I have not been able to get worried about the cancer, nor most of the collateral issues from the treatment. I have a lot of work to do to get anywhere near the condition, strength and endurance I once had, but that will come. This month I start my 14th year in fighting this terminal cancer, and they have found no trace of active cancer since the stem cell transplant I received November 3rd, 2010. Most folks that are diagnosed with this cancer are gone within 3 to 5 years. I have literally been on deaths doorstep several times, once before when I was in high school, and at least twice the doctors have told me about since I started the cancer treatments. Praise the Lord He has seen fit to keep me alive and allowed me to share with so many people! I know in my heart that He has other things with this that will enable me, and those around me to give Him even greater glory! Praise God!
