Yesterday, Istanbul felt jubilant. Boats packed to the brim, - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, Istanbul felt jubilant. Boats packed to the brim, flying the Turkish flag, were heading down the Bosphorus to join the rally in support of Prime Minister Erdogan. In their midst were many men and women who were not afriad to outwardly express their faith, despite the many decades of systematic secularist oppression which characterized 20th-century Turkish politics. The rally was huge and peaceful, a stark contrast to the molotov cocktail activism we have been seeing. Yet today, I cannot find one good news story in the Western press to share with you, with pictures of the many smiling faces of the packed boats and the rally.
