Yesterday, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) commissioned their state-of-the-art fisheries survey vessel. The ship will conduct fish, marine mammal and turtle surveys off the U.S. West Coast and in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. Reuben Lasker is the fifth in a series of ultra-quiet, high-tech fisheries survey vessels designed to meet the NOAA Fisheries Service’s specific data collection requirements. If you follow the links in the article, you will find the impressive list of the vessels scientific systems, including Simrad ME70 and MS70 scientific multibeams, an SX90 sonar, EK60 echo sounders, ITI catch monitoring, FS70 trawl sonar and a K-Sync to make all the system operate simultanously. Congratulations are in order, both to NOAA and to the Simrad crew in Lynnwood!
