Yesterday, RMA Track Team members Chris Howard and Marcus Gouthro competed in the first day of the Georgia Olympics - GHSA Boys State Track Meet at Jefferson High School! (An athlete must finish in the top four at Regionals to advance to Sectionals and then finish in the top eight to advance to State where 16 athletes compete in each event. In field events, the 1600 meter run, and the 3200 meter run all 16 athletes compete in finals. In other running events, the completion is divided into prelims with the top eight advancing to finals. RMA athletes compete in AA.) Junior Chris Howard qualified in shot put and triple jump. He finished 6th in the triple with a leap of 43-07. In shot put, he finished 7th with 44-09. This earned our team 5 pts. Senior Marcus Gouthro finished 11th with a time of 4:46.91 in the 1600 meter run. Today, we contest the 3200 meter run with Gouthro and senior Lexx Joya, the 300 hurdle with junior Mahlik Faulk, and the 1600 meter relay with juniors JJ McCalston, Chris Mull, Tucker Pearson, and Raleigh Beougher.
