Yesterday TWU National Secretary Tony Sheldon spoke with Ray Hadley on #2GB radio about 457 visa holders being quickly trained up to drive large trucks on Australia roads. Road transport is an an industry where high English language competency is vital to not just workplace safety, but the safety of all road users. We’re not against skilled migration, were against the abuse of the system that exploits migrant workers, hurts the entire Australian workforce by driving down wages and conditions, undercuts businesses that play by the rules and puts the safety of everyone on the roads at risk.
